One To One Workshops

Our one-to-one workshops are designed to meet your needs. Whether you are a beginner keen to make progress or an experienced photographer looking to add to your portfolio we will aim to exceed your expectations. A one-to-one experience allows you to focus on what matters most:

Dedicating time to your key species
    Obtaining practical field tuition
Working around your needs and objectives
Learning fieldcraft, such as getting close to difficult subjects like Mountain Hare
We can organise accomodation and make logistical bookings e.g. ferries
Take you to new and exciting photography locations off the beaten track

Most of our scheduled workshops can also be delivered one to one. Alternatively, we can devise a bespoke itinerary to meet your individual needs.
One-to-one workshops are £200 and you will get our time from dawn until dusk. If we are covering a lot of miles on the day we may ask for an additional contribution towards fuel expenses. Please contact us for more information about dates and the best time of year to add that new shot to your portfolio.

“I really appreciated the efforts you put in to get me the lovely red grouse shots which I have now.”
Dutch photographer, Rene De Heer

Mull White Tailed Eagle Photography Holiday

Photographing <strong><span style=”color: #ff6600;”>White Tailed Eagles</span></strong> on this tour is a truly unforgettable experience. To offer UK-based photographers the chance to get close to these awesome predators we have teamed up with a small boat charter operating from Ulva, Mull. <br /><br /><br /> This workshop is <span style=”color: #ff6600;”><strong>designed specifically for photographers</strong> </span>to maximise the chances to get truly stunning images of White Tailed Eagles in Scotland:<br /><div style=”clear:left;”></div><br /><ul><li>A total of <strong><span style=”color: #ff6600;”>four</span></strong> Eagle charters providing, on average, ten eagle diving photographic opportunites</li><li>Our exclusive photography trips are for up to<strong><span style=”color: #ff6600;”> four photographers only</span></strong></li><li>The tour is booked to maximise light in the ‘golden hours’ of early morning</li><li>For two charters the boat is <strong><span style=”color: #ff6600;”>privately booked</span></strong> to provide guests with adequate operating space</li><li>The White Tailed Eagles can come to fish between 5 and 8 metres from our boat</li><li>Tour extended to capture other species on Mull – Bottlenose Dolphin, Grey Seal and Otter often photographable from the boat.</li></ul> <strong>A truly unforgettable experience</strong><p>Each trip of about 3 hours and the success rate is about 75% – these are wild birds after all! The boat is fully licensed, insured and is designed to carry twelve passengers. The boat is three metres wide and there is adequate space for everyone to operate and get great shots. The vessel is fully coded. If you have always wanted to photograph wild Eagles then this is the trip for you!</p><ol><li><span style=”color: #ff6600;”><strong>Better Light</strong></span>. The boat is scheduled to be at the prime Eagle feeding locations in the ‘golden hour’. This means that the light is as perfect as can be for the Eagles diving enabling high shutter speeds to capture the moment with a super sharp image. Equally, it reduces the amount of shadow on the underwings and undercarriage of the bird as it completes the ‘grab’ and take off from the water.</li><li><span style=”color: #ff6600;”><strong>More space to manoeuvre</strong></span>. MV Charters has enough space for twelve passengers. In our experience four is the maximum number of photographers that can be accommodated in a way to ensure there are no obstacles or obstructions. With just four photographers, plus guide and crew, there is space to move and ensure that everyone has the maximum opportunity to capture a photograph</li><li><span style=”color: #ff6600;”><strong>Specific guidance at the key moment</strong></span>. The dive can last less than one second. Knowledge and experience of exactly what may happen and when is made possible by offering guidance to a smaller group. This is also important for other critical factos such as setting up for the correct exposure as the Eagle moves across several types of habitat to complete the dive.</li></ol><br /><p>

Test

There are few words to describe just how special it is to hear the wind whistling through the wings of a diving White-tailed Eagle. Actually to capture the moment on camera is a dream for many photographers and birders. When this stunning Eagle is encountered at close quarters the true size of the bird is mind blowing. However, it is the piercing yellow eye that always captures my imagination. It is easy to understand the source of the Gaelic name Iolaire suile na grein: ‘the eagle with the sunlit eye’. Whenever I have been to watch these birds I am amazed how bright the eyes are, and how this makes well-lit shots particularly attractive.
